Healthier and more beautiful teeth - our promise to you!

Founded as a trading company in 1974, SANGI quickly evolved into a product development company focusing on hydroxyapatite. Today we call ourselves The Apatite Company. This was largely due to a US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) patent acquired during the trade, which drew attention to the potential of this highly biocompatible material to regenerate human teeth and bones. A few years later, SANGI began to research and produce this amazing material, and in 1978 we became the first company in the world to develop a toothpaste containing hydroxyapatite, "the same substance as our teeth", which could remineralize tooth enamel.

HYDROXYAPATITE

Since 1974

In the 1990s, SANGI went beyond oral care and explored many applications of hydroxyapatite. These included scissors, water filtration systems, antimicrobial agents, nutritional supplements and remineralizing chewing gum, drug delivery systems, and skin care products. All products are outsourced to SANGI after the pilot plant stage. As its name suggests, from the Greek απάτη ("apato") meaning "uncatchable," hydroxyapatite is a unique material whose basic structure remains intact even when some of its constituent elements are removed or replaced. This allows, depending on the method of synthesis, to be produced in various forms, each of which has different properties and is suitable for use in various fields. SANGI's commercialized applications to date are mainly dental, but there are other applications in development.

What is "hydroxyapatite"?

Although still not well known, it is a major component of the human body, accounting for approximately 97% of tooth enamel, 70% of dentin and 60% of bone mass. Even in its synthetic form, nano-hydroxyapatite is biocompatible, biodegradable, biomimetic and safe for ingestion. It is therefore widely used in medicine and dentistry, such as in implant coatings and bone fillers, as well as in dietary supplements and remineralizing chewing gum. Saliva has been described as a supersaturated solution of hydroxyapatite, the components of which it constantly supplies the teeth to maintain their mineral density in the face of acid attack.
